Baptism is a Beginning

h1 Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Here’s the sermon I preached on 1 John 2. In it I set up baptism as a beginning, not an end. After baptism we have a journey ahead of us, and John outlines two of the paths that we walk, the first is the prevention of sin in our lives and the second is loving others within the church.

Here’s the powerpoint.

And the mp3 of the sermon is below.

1 John

h1 Saturday, November 11th, 2006

I’m currently in a sermon series on 1 John. Mostly because if I spend a week in each chapter that brings me up to time for the Christmas series. So, it was more practical than any other reason.

The biggest thing I’ve pulled out of this book is the intimacy that John has with his readers. The way he addresses them is less one of authority figure, and more of older brother.

Suck Less Than What?

Well, the name of the blog is sermons that suck less. Suck less than what? Well hopefully, suck less than their predescessors.
